I really wanted to see this group; called String Theory. They are classically trained and play not quite classical music on harps and other stringed instruments they build into where ever they are playing. I think it also involves some dance. They played at the San Luis Obispo Fringe Festival last week.

Also, I just started listening to a band called Logh.  Here is a video of the song “Saturday Nightmares”

I’m trying to quit smoking, because it’s a terrible habit and because I don’t really want to die of cancer. Today is the first day.

I am also in the middle of trying to find a 2 bedroom apartment. Shawn and I were going to buy a place, but the lady who was selling it is crazy and we don’t want to make any deals with her.

I’m currently reading Terror Presidency by Jack Goldsmith (former Assistant Attorney General, Office of Legal Counsel)
which is interesting, I will get more read when I’m at work. I’m also reading the 3rd book in the Enders Quartet by Orson Scott Card.

I just got several new books for Lorelei at the library; her favorite ones are the Punk Farm books. They are about a group of animals who have a punk band that plays songs like “Old Mac Donald”
They are pretty funny and the art is really colorful!

I’m planning on buying a new mp3 player; but I don’t want another ipod. I want a new phone, but I’m not getting a new Razr. I’m tired of colorful products that I picked because they look nice. I’m going with function before form.

Now, I am going to pick up an application for an apartment. Then I’m going to try to catch April and Michelle at Jaffa Cafe. I hope I get to see Louie too! I saw Danny Derek at McCarthys last week.

Yesterday I went to see Marcos and my daughter Lorelei. It’s been awhile since I spent time with the whole family together. Lorelei enjoys it and I really miss getting to put her to bed.

It has renewed my interest in my job search. I have not stopped searching, because I need the money. I was just losing my interest and energy invested in it. I was in a rut about job hunting because it hasn’t gone very well. I only look for jobs on line. I can’t afford to drive around and look for a job.

I recieved an e-mail from The Village at Garden Creek, and they are hiring caregivers. So, I will go over there today and put in an application so that I will hopefully be employed soon!

Marcos has also helped remind me that I need to be going through my stuff and throwing things away. I opted to be more minimalistic and I only cleaned 2 drawers of the dresser. I think perhaps I also need to opt to be more motivated and have a better memory.

I explained to him yesterday, that I don’t miss my friends. I don’t miss the drama associated with being around all of those people. I am happy at home reading books, learning more, working on my own projects. I paint, I draw, I write in my journal. I usually work, so that eats up a lot of time and keeps me busy and moving around.

I love watching Star Trek Voyager on DVD with Shawn. I love sitting around with him in the yard, staring at the sky talking about God and Space Marines.

Please Please Please

I decided to start an on line blog because I often find it easier to type my thoughts than hand write them. I do keep a paper journal, but I tend to draw in it more than I write in it.

Today I organized the room a bit. Shawn (my boyfriend) has been complaining the bedroom was looking to cluttered. He and I share a bedroom, that is our entire living space. We are looking for an apartment to rent, but for now we have a bedroom. I hauled a bunch of stuff out to the storage area. Useless things like his old toys and my pile of shoes.

I have been thinking about becoming more minimalist. I tried to get my t-shirt drawer to contain:

  • 7 tank tops (I wear them as undershirts)
  • 7 t-shirts
  • 7 long sleeved shirts
  • and 4 dressier shirts.

My pants are next on the agenda of things to get thrown away.

It really irritates me that Shawn insists on keeping all his Maxim magazines. He says they are useful, but I think they are garbage. I think it’s probably best not to get in a fight over who owns the most garbage in the house. I am a complete pack-rat attempting minimalism!

Also today I need to take all the cans to be recycled. I try to recycle all the cans and bottles in the house, because it affords me something cheap and fun. I’m not sure how much recycling is really helping the environment. I think it would be a bigger help if Shawn’s Eco-friendly mother would stop buying the large packs of water. To much money is spent producing the water bottles. Considering the oil consumption of the United States. I really liked Aprils refillable water bottle! I should invest in one of those, because they cheaper in the long run, and they are more attractive than store-brand water bottles!
